Recreation is important in promoting inclusion and quality of life. Studies have shown that it increases self-esteem and confidence, leads to improved communication, social interaction, and friendship skills.
The San Diego Regional Center supports clients having time to recreate and believes it is essential to a healthy and well-balanced life. Below are links to some popular recreation activities in the San Diego and Imperial Counties. However, SDRC does not endorse, nor provide funding for any recreation activity. SDRC is not liable for anything occurring while participating in any of the recreational activities.
|Erika stays involved in her community as a Sweetwater Special Track team student-athlete with Sports 4 Exceptional Athletes. She has been participating in track and field events since 2013. Although some practices are long and the weather is hot, she does not let that interfere with her goals. Erika constantly pushes herself to do her best at every meet. Her favorite event is the four-person relay. She helps motivate her teammates to push themselves to their limits as well. She rarely misses a picture perfect opportunity. Every Saturday morning she enjoys taking and sharing selfies to show her dedication and involvement with Sports 4 Exceptional Athletes. Here are some pictures of Erika and her volunteer coach, Isela.|
