The SDRC has received many questions from clients, families, and service providers about when day programs will re-open. The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has developed a draft COVID-19 Re-Entry Plan that was released on June 11, 2020. The plan incorporates information from a variety of sources including the federal Centers for Disease Control, CAL OSHA, California Department of Public Health, and California Department of Social Services. The next step for DDS is to receive feedback on the guidelines stakeholders across California. The SDRC will keep our community informed when the COVID-19 Re-Entry Plan is released as a final plan.
SDRC has purchased personal protective equipment (PPE) and has been able to obtain a substantial amount of PPE from the DDS, the State Council on Developmental Disabilities, the Foundation for Developmental Disabilities, and personal donations. In collaboration with Home of Guiding Hands, the PPE has been and will be distributed to service providers, clients, and families. The totals of PPE already distributed and ready to be distributed include, but are not limited to, 400,000 masks; 31,200 face shields; and, 4,000 gallons of hand sanitizer.
Our sincere appreciation to our community partners. We are in this together and together we will make it through this.
